Komye (Cormiers or Cormier in French) is a rural village in the arondissement (district) of Léogâne, about 18 miles West of the Haitian capital Port au Prince. The city of Léogâne (Creole: Leyogàn) was at the epicenter of the 12 January 2010 earthquake, and was catastrophically affected with 80-90% of buildings damaged.
Komye consists of other sectors, including Bigones and Barrier Jeudi, where Ayiti Resurrect’s work is primarily based.
